ENG: Finally, lets talk about Amsterdam Fashionweek. What's in and what's out? This year Amsterdam Fashionweek teamed up with Mercedes Benz. You can imagine that I was really curious to the program and shows with this big sponsorship. The program looked good with opportunities for established designers/brands but also for upcoming talents. The ready to wear collection of designer Ilja Visser (ph 14) (who showed her Haute Couture collection last week in Paris), fairy-like designer Edwin Oudshoorn, rock designer Jan Boelo, designer Dennis Diem and also young but very talented Jonathan Christopher were on the program. But there was more, during this fashionweek you could also attend discussions about various fashion subjects. I attended the Talking Tables that was about retail and fashion. Some questions were; Why do people buy clothes? And is transparently important for you? I am wondering if you guys are interested in these kind of subjects (I mean Corporate Social Responsibility and more about business fashion)?
However let's get back to Amsterdam Fashionweek. I saw many shows but I had my favorites of course! Let start with young, but talented designer Jonathan Christopher (ph 2-6), who showed his first collection during this Amsterdam Fashionweek. I used to blog about womenswear but his collection was so good that I also gave some attention to his designs. If he will design the left jacket on picture two I'll definitely buy it! I was also impressed by designer Tony Cohen. Tony Cohen is a well known Dutch designer who is showcased almost every season during Amsterdam Fashionweek. Models such as Kim Feenstra and Ovo van Drenth are his muses and you see these models in all of his shows. Normally the Tony Cohen (ph 8 -11) collection is not really my kind of taste, but this season I really loved some items (for example the heats and black see through top). During fashionweek there is also a platform for (kind of) haute couture designers. Dennis Diem and Edwin Oudshoorn were my favorites but to be honest I liked the AW13/14 collection of Dennis Diem (ph 16-18.) more. Edwin Oudshoorn (ph. 19) chose a informal setting. He greeted the guests when they came in (which is not common during shows), there was a cozy table setting and champagne for everyone. The collection was fairy-like and thank god for Edwin Oudshoorn. He really made the 20th Amsterdam Fashionweek!
NL: Eindelijk!! Mijn post over Amsterdam Fashionweek is online. Wat is er volgend seizoen in en wat is er uit? Dit jaar werkte Amsterdam Fashionweek voor het eerst samen met Mercedes Benz en ik was daarom erg benieuwd naar het programma en de shows. Dit jaar zat het programma goed in elkaar en er was plaats voor gevestigde merken maar ook voor jonge talenten. De Ready To Wear collectie van Ilja Vissser (die een week daarvoor haar Haute Couture collectie showde in Parijs), bekend designer Tony Cohen, sprookjes- achtige designer Edwin Oudshoorn, designer Dennis Diem maar ook jong talent Jonathan Christopher stonden op het programma. Naast shows was er ook plaats voor mode discussies. Ik woonde de Talking Tables bij wat draaide om Fashion en Retail. Vragen waren onder andere; Wat is de belangrijkste reden dat cosumenten kleding kopen en is transparantie in de branche belangrijk? Ik vond de discussie erg interessant en dit vooral omdat er nu veel aandacht in de media is over de veiligheidswetten in Bangladesh. Ik ben erg benieuwd hoe jullie hier over denken en of jullie het interessant vinden als ik in het vervolg meer aandacht besteed aan dit soort onderwerpen.
Anyway, even terug naar Amsterdam Fashionweek. Ik zag verschillende shows, maar had zo mijn favorieten! Laten we beginnen met jong, maar getalenteerd talent Jonathan Christopher (ph 2-6) die tijdens Amsterdam Fashionweek zijn eerste collectie showde. In de modehow liepen verschillende bekende Nederlandsers mee zoals; Dave Mantel, Teun Kuilboer en Tygo Gernandt. Dit zorgde natuurlijk voor de nodige (media) aandacht. Maar eerlijk is eerlijk dit verdiende Jonathan ook. Ik blog normaal alleen over dames fashion, maar zeg nou eerlijk als Jonathan de jas van foto twee voor dames maakt dan wil iedere vrouw deze toch hebben? Daarnaast was ik onder de indruk van de Tony Cohen show. Tony Cohen (ph 8-11) showt bijna ieder jaar met zijn favoriete modellen Kim Feenstra en Ovo van Drenth. Normaal ben ik niet de grootste Tony Cohen fan, omdat de kleding niet echt bij mijn stijl aansluit. Dit seizoen was dat een ander verhaal, ik vond verschillende items super. Ik vind bijvoorbeeld de doorschijnende top, maar ook de hoeden echt geweldig. Fashionweek geeft ook altijd een platform voor Haute Couture designers zoals Dennis Diem (ph 16 -18) en Edwin Oudshoorn (ph 19.). Edwin Oudshoorn is echt mijn favoriet en dit jaar koos hij voor een informele setting. Hij begroette zijn gasten bij binnenkomst (wat niet de normaalste zaak is tijdens een show), er was een gezellige tafel setting met champagne en de zaal zag er adembenemend mooi uit. een ding is zeker... Thank god voor Edwin Oudshoorn, hij maakte de 20ste editie van Amsterdam Fashionweek.
