PHOTO DIARY: MAASTRICHT CITY TRIP DAY I

I don't know were to start, because I want to tell you so many things about my stay in Maastricht. Okay, let's start from the beginning. A few days ago I got an invite of Chantal (press by TravelBird) to join their press trip to Maastricht. It was a bit last minute call and I had lots of work to do, but would obviously love to join their press trip.

 

Wednesday I went by train to Maastricht. After we refreshed ourselves at our accommodation, Design Hotel Hampshire Eden we went to have lunch at Cafe Zondag. This small lunch room located at Wijckerbrugstraat 42 offers delicious salads, bagels and other kinds of lunch. During the lunch, I also got to know the girls a bit better. Annemerel started her lifestyle/diary blog in 2003 and now, almost 10 years later, her blog is a big succes.  Melanie started PR agency Kult and Ace a few years ago, and  Chantal is working for the aforementioned TravelBird.

 

After a delicious lunch we continued our trip through the streets of the Wijck-district. This is an area were you can find small but beautiful shops. Design hotel Hampshire Eden is also located in this area. Besides that, there is also Stijl Wijck, a beautiful designer store which sells brands like By Malene Birger, Monique van Heist, studio RUIG, Samsøe & Samsøe and many more.

I saw some great items, but bought nothing in the end. Our trip took us towards the centre of Maastricht where we met Ruth and Manon, two university students of Maastricht.  Manon and Ruth were our guides for the afternoon: they showed us the real Maastricht. I saw many things and streets and especially liked the "Stokstraat".  In the Stokstraat you can find many designers boutique; beautiful but also expensive. I visited a couple of them and liked Aim, Stylesuite and Kiki Niesten the most. There are also shops for those who want to shop budget (like I did). In that case, there is the local H&M (with a trend department), Bershka, Zara, New Yorker, Bijenkorf and the recently opened Hollister in the centre of Maastricht.

 

After our exciting guided tour we said goodbye to the lovely Ruth and Manon and we went to Barsserie Apart and enjoyed a delicous diner. My blog about the second day in Maastricht will follow soon.
