On Saturday the 16th of July we attended the Volvo presentation by designer, Line Markvardsen, of the brand name “Edith & Ella” at the Amsterdam International Fashion Week. The catwalkshow consisted of two collections: The Epoque , followed by the Sassy Sailer Girl, Edith & Ella, Summer Collection 2012.
The company “Edith & Ella” was founded in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2004. In 2005 Edith & Ella opened their first flagship store in Copenhagen. Today there are four concept stores in Denmark and the brand is also sold in Sweden, Norway, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, France. Ireland and Japan. Both her grandmother’s, who were still young in the fifties and sixties clearly inspired her design style.
The designs shown were feminine and sexy and at the same time sophisticated . Her vintage inspired designs are suited for the modern business woman and her flirty dresses and jumpsuits with vintage-flair mainly showed at the Sassy Sailer Girl collection are more for the younger girl. The different styles shown are suitable to be mixed and matched to be suited for every occasion . I noticed a variation of soft colours and darker more edgy tones. Dresses with sparkling fresh summer colours and dotted prints. I specially loved the trendy silky lose fitted jumpsuits. Both collections have a lot in common but are both also very strong individually. I noticed a lot of attention for detail, craftsmanship and quality light-weight fabrics with the accent on comfortable and wearable .
It was a pleasure to be present at this well organized evening. I wrote this blog together with my aunt Ingeborg Bal, Through this way I want to thank her.
