Yesterday there was a lot of interest in the show of ‘Lichting 2010’. The concept of ‘Lichting’ is simple: the best academy graduates of one year in 1 central catwalk show. In the audience were the 700 most important people for the next step in their careers: fashion journalists and influential stylists, ready to spot the next big thing. Under the audience I recognized many people known in the media, television and fashion business. To name a few: Stacey Rookhuizen, Jort Kelder, Victoria Koblenko,  Evgeniy Levchenko, Fiona Hering and Michou Basu.   I had the pleasure to be seated next to the director of the head office of ‘Score’ Jan Peters. During the show we talked about our vision on fashion and the show being presented in front of us. 

I really liked the first collection by Lotte Mostert a graduate student from Artez design school. Key words for her collection were: A-symmetric, loose fitted, elegant and wearable for younger and older generation.

Another favorite of me was the collection of Mattia Akkermans, who is also a graduate from Artez design school. Mattia Akkermans had in contrast with Lotte Mostert a more outspoken collection with a lot of colours.  I found it so original that it is difficult to refer to any style I had seen before.

Yesterday I saw many shows designed by students, for example: Individuals, Generation12 and Lichting 2011. For me Lichting 2011 was the most outstanding show. Because of the good lighting, choreography, excellent choose of models and of course the well made designs I decided to focus my reportage on Lichting 2011.  

The winner of the G-Star Raw talent award Lichting 2011 is Sanne Schepers.  For each piece she used different colours. What was noticeable in her collection were her clothing with body exposure.
