AFW: EDWIN OUDSHOORN AND ELISE KIM

Last Sunday was my second day at the Westgasfabriek in Amsterdam, where the Fashion week was held. I saw three different shows, but the last show of young talented designer Elise Kim and couture designer Edwin Oudshoorn was the highlight of the day. Their collaboration was a wise choice.

Edwin Oudshoorn, winner of the 2005 Frans Molenaar Prijs, showed a fairytale-like collection. From the beginning I was overwhelmed; this collection was beautiful. The event had the fitting Fashion Week-vibe, as organizers had thought of everyhing: the beautiful bakground adorned with flowers and tress and the details on the clothing were breathtaking. Funny fact: a little girl with red curly hair opened the show.

1. Together with Yeliz (Marie Claire) 2. Together with my friend Sanne

Young talented designer Elise Kim, whom I interviewed last year for my thesis, showed a 20's inspired collection. I had high expectations last season, but were dissapointed by the fact that she showed too much clothing pieces which made the show too long. This time, she did a better job and showed a wonderful collection (love the white jacket with fur). Though she still had used the same pattern for several pieces in this collection.

I am curious about your opionion of these two designers. I look forward to your comments on this blog. Now I am off to have lunch.

AFW: DETAIL SHOTS FROM FRIDAY THE 13TH SHOWS

Bas Kosters

Fred Fararrow & Britt Avelontan

SIS by Spijkers and Spijkers

Jan Boelo

Yesterday was my first day at The Amsterdam Fashion Week. I could not attend the first two days because I was in Antwerpen for a city trip. During my first day I saw four totally different shows, started with  FredFarrow&BrittAvelonTan, Frans Molenaar (winner of 2010)who is now co-operating with Britt Avelon Tan. Which was followed by artistic Bas Kosters,  the wearable collection of SIS by Spijkers and Spijkers and upcoming Paris Fashionweek participant Jan Boelo.  I enjoyed all shows, but was most suprised by the collection of Fred Farrow & Britt Avelon Tan. The Bas Kosters show was a spectacle as every year and it was a honor to attend the show of Jan Boelo.

Events like yesterday are covered by a lot of a people (bloggers/the Twitter crowd/photographers) and you can even watch live streams on internet. Therefore I chose for a detail post of the four shows from Friday. Looking forward to your comments and tell me if you also going or went to Amsterdam fashionweek.
