Every year just before the fashion week madness in Amsterdam begins Hans Ubbink presents his new collection to his clients, press and other well-known crowd. Hans Ubbink always uses great locations for his shows, this year he chose for an exclusive and intimate location, “Het Grachtenhuis” in Amsterdam. When I arrived it was very sunny in the beautiful backyard of the canal house and a small group of people enjoyed their prosecco.
Before the show started you could already notice that Hans Ubbink had thought about everything. Normally you always see the same well-known people during fashion shows, sometimes they don’t know what fashion is or, even worse, they are more interested in cocktails, bites and socialising than the showing brand. Hans Ubbink had only invited people who are definitely interested in his brand and presentation. I spotted Koert-Jan de Bruin, Winston Post and Beau van Erven Doorens, all three Hans Ubbink types. Before the show I could hear them talk about the upcoming show, they were curious about his new collection. After some bites and cocktails the show started. The location was beautiful and I took a seat in chamber two, front row.
During the show I found the man’s collection more interesting than the women’s collection. However the women's collection has some nice items but in general, the collection is too fussy for me and not really my kind of collecton. Despite that I am really enthusiastic about his man’s wear, beautiful suits, designed bowties and cosy warm cardigans.
After the show it was time for more cocktails and bites. Some models came outside to thank Hans Ubbink, while he is beaming. I congratulated him with his show and his new collection when I left.
